DPCA Reps and AKC’s defamation

This first message below was sent to the membership of the Doberman Pinscher Club of America on February 27, 2015 by the President of the Doberman Pinscher Club of America, Ms. Michelle Santana. 11 22
  1. At this time Ms. Santana was well aware of the situation with Mrs. Greenwood and had monitored it closely since the previous March.   Ms. Santana knew that the Logres Farm dogs were in excellent health, and she knew that there were much larger issues, which directly impacted the health and safety of Mrs. Greenwood and the Logres Farm business.  And Ms. Santana knew that  there were issues involving allegations of  criminal conduct of Mr. Greenwood.
  2. Ms. Santana was aware of long history of a group of  individuals who were antagonistic to her and to Mrs. Greenwood, individuals including but not limited to: Jeff Helsdon, Cheri McNealy, Sandy Teague, Marj Brooks and Sue Korps, AKC staff Gina DiNardo, AKC Staff Mike Liosis and others at AKC, who routinely used  an internet blog called CyberDobes and an website called www.karmaboomerang.com  to harass, defame and or incite a mob mentality against individuals,  and that this group had been responsible for the AKC malfeasance in June, July and August of 2014 that made it necessary for Mr. and Mrs. Greenwood to file a Derivative Action in 2014 on behalf of the Doberman Pinscher Club of America to essentially prevent the American Kennel Club from destroying the Doberman Pinscher Club of American out of sheer stupidity and the petty agenda of this group.
  3. Ms. Santana knew this group including McManus had a personal vendetta against Mrs. Greenwood because the Greenwood's had essentially embarrassed the AKC in the 2014 Michigan litigation, and because Mrs. Greenwood was an outspoken and articulate critic of the conduct of Jeff Helsdon, Cheri McNealy, Sandy Teague, Marj Brooks and Sue Korps, AKC staff Gina DiNardo, AKC Staff Mike Liosis and others at AKC.
  4. Ms. Santana was aware that a USAF Officer USAF Maj Carmen Baxter had  unethically and maliciously taken  two video clips out of context,  off of a password protected website made by Mrs. Greenwood at the demand of the United States Air Force in connection to the USAF's Investigation of the alleged criminal conduct of  Arthur  Greenwood, and Baxter had disseminated these two links by email using Baxter's United States Air Force account, with the heading "Animal Abuse" falsely accusing Mrs. Greenwood of  animal abuse,  of actively breeding dogs in the situation depicted on the videos and implying that Mrs. Greenwood approved of the conditions depicted on the video. Ms. Santana was aware that CyberDobes had maliciously and intentionally created a feeding frenzy of hysteria, disseminating false claims that were extremely damaging to Mrs. Greenwood, her health and her business, including the claim, or inference that Mrs. Greenwood was in any way guilty of animal abuse, which is a felony.
  5. Ms. Santana knew that all of the malicious defamatory  claims of Baxter were false,  and that Mrs. Greenwood was the victim of domestic violence and abuse, and that Arthur Greenwood had abandoned the animals and that Mrs. Greenwood was heroically doing everything humanely possible to provide for and care or the animals
Out of respect of the rights and privacy of both Arthur Greenwood  and Mrs. Greenwood, and out of respect for their reputations and the value of their business, Ms. Santana very wisely chose to say only the following. On February 27, 2015 the American Kennel Club Senior In House Counsel Ms. Heather R McManus took the unprecedented and blatantly unethical step of emailing the President of the DPCA and the DPCA Board of Directors irrationally disputing that factual truth that "Mrs. Greenwood has passed three inspections regarding the care of the animals at the residence" McManus irrationally went on to dispute the DPCA President's statement, quoting from above,  that:
"All three agencies had the power and authority the DPCA does not have, to remove animal if they felt there was any imminent danger / abuse occurring"
  • United States Air Force
  • Local Animal Control
  • The AKC inspection  office
As a factual matter, USAF Officer Lt. Col. Elliott Pinero was at the property on February 5, 2015. Lt. Col Pinero is a medical doctor who holds a medical license in North Carolina. Lt Col Pinero absolutely  had the power to call local law enforcement and or Animal Control if he felt that there was any imminent danger or animal abuse. And as McManus well knows, the American Kennel Club has the power to make a phone call to law enforcement and local animal control,  and would have done so if they felt that there was any imminent danger or animal abuse

Categorically what Heather McManus is asserting in the email of February 27, 2015 is false.

As a practicing attorney AKC Senior In House Counsel Heather McManus knows that falsely accusing someone of committing a crime is libel per se.  A felony is a crime. Animal Abuse is a felony.  It carries jail time, fines and other penalties including public humiliation and a life long stigma. When the American Kennel Club Senior In House Counsel recklessly implies that an individual is guilty of animal abuse, it is perceived by the general public as being true. The American Kennel Club and its business associates Proctor & Gamble, Mars and Eli Lilly spend hundreds of millions of dollars each year promoting the image that the American Kennel Club is the vanguard of dogs and the health of dogs.  They actively seek to position themselves as credible authorities on animal care. This reckless and false assertion by Heather McManus was believed by the public and has destroyed the value of the Logres Farm business.   McManus' bizarre, unprecedented and malicious email to the President and the Board of Directors of the Doberman Pinscher Club of America was seen by the DPCA membership for exactly what it was...  a thinly veiled accusation that Mrs. Greenwood was guilty of animal abuse. McManus is essentially saying that the AKC would have seized Mrs. Greenwood's animals that day,  but that the AKC lacked the power to seize the animals. As McMAnus well knows, all 16 od the dogs and the eight horses were  in excellent condition on February. There was never any context where seizing Mrs. Greenwood valuable property would have been in any way justified. As McManus knows,  the AKC has often reported causes of animal abuse to local authorities. And as McManus well knows, animal abuse is a felony. Heather McManus is subtly accusing Mrs. Greenwood of a felony, of animal abuse, which Mrs. Greenwood is not guilty of. The AKC did not claim that the animals were being abused, not on February 25, 2015 and not ever.  Mrs. Greenwood was  never charged with animal abuse, not by any entity, not even the American Kennel Club, not ever. AKC In House Counsel Heather McManus showed malice towards Mrs. Greenwood, with knowledge of falsity and  a reckless disregard for the truth and a reckless disregard for the injury caused by McManus' defamatory assertions.
On February 27, 2015 (with the full knowledge that Sandy Teague -a DPCA Board member - would disseminate the emails to CyberDobes and then world, in which AKC Senior In House Counsel demands that the President of the DPCA make a statement consistent the malicious and false assertions of Carmen Baxter  which both McManus and Gladstone knew had been on social media including CyberDobes and Facebook for days. After these emails were published every potential purchaser of Logres Farm dogs withdrew their offer to purchase. Mrs. Greenwood was bullied, harassed and even received death threats, and was in every way held to public humiliation, scorn, ridicule on CyberDobes and other social media.
  • On February 25, 2015 the AKC Inspectors told Mrs. Greenwood that the AKC would wait 30 days for her to respond and or object to what they had done that day.
